Hi,
can you please remove the feature, that bots need their own key?
Before gamespy closed it was possible to use the same cdkey on any number of different servers.
And mostly the bot-provider can´t fix it, even if they get keys.
That would be nice.
Greetings

That was never possible. A bot is a player, a player needs a CD-key - it had always been like that, even with GameSpy.
Anyway, the BF2Hub Support forum on 2F4Y.com is for players that have question regarding the installation or settings of the BF2Hub Client and their game. For feature requests or similar questions contact the BF2Hub Support directly:

"The act of teabagging has become popular in multiplayer first person shooter video games. This is executed by the player who just killed an enemy running over to his corpse (if any) and repeatedly crouching in his opponent's face. This is done to imply domination or humiliation. Although teabagging is generally considered bad sportsmanship, its use is widespread throughout amateur and professional gaming." ^^

I tried to get an answer from BF2HUB by Email, but no response.
So I thought a forum = faster help.
Yes, with gamespy a bot also needed a key. But the difference was, that 1 key can be used on different server.
For example. A Key can be used on 2F4Y-server, DMK-server and SUPER@ servers at the same time. Without getting kicked.
Please continue as GameSpy did

That is plain incorrect!
We have been asked by the BF2Hub guys to test this when GameSpy was still running and it is not possible to use the same CD-key on two or more different servers.
So: yes - seems like they do continue as GameSpy did: enforcing that CD-key can globally used only once at a time.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. |

that is not correct. It was possible to use 1 key on different server! I guess you were running new files already or something like that.
With official ranking and old server files it was possible.
BF2HUB changed something and with that it´s more difficult to get servers running.
quote of the bot provider:
I am not sure if I can provide bots because of bf2hub being so dodgy.
Each bot needs its own cdkey. Before gamespy closed I could use the same cdkey on any number of different servers. Since it closed the hub does not allow this.

It was possible to use 1 key on different server!
When exactly?
GameSpy CD-Key SDK:
There are actually three layers of protection provided by server-based CD Key validation, each layer targeted at stopping a particular type of piracy:
- You must have a valid CD Key to play online
- No two people can play online at the same time with the same CD Key
- Any valid CD Key can be disabled if it is distributed / abused
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. |

before gamespy shutdown it was possible for many years.
with gamespy it did not work to use 1 key two times on the same server. But on different it worked.
And this "different server" feature got removed by BF2HUB
another quote from bot provider:
thats is wrong, I ran bots for upto 6 different servers with the same cd keys and the same names

Looks like you should contact BF2Hub with that issue then.

Hi guys,
I am an admin with Dogclanuk.com, We have provided Bots for a long time, I can confirm exactly what Steff said, before EA shutdown we could use the same cd keys on multiple servers, in fact at one stage we were running around 50 bots on around 8 servers with no more than 12 keys. Thought i would just give you the info for ref.
IS 2f4y connected with the hub ?
Is the Hub still going because there is very little updating on the site and also my bots no longer work, is this due to some system been turned off or some kind of block on Bots ?
Any response will be greatly appreciated.
Regards

Noob question: When you see a server full of bots, why don't the bots play? They are 'present' in the player list but not present in the game. |

The "online"-bots are not provided by the server itself but are "real" instances of BF2-clients that connect to the server but just do nothing - idle players so to say. In the Coop-Mode the server itself provides those bots and an AI lets them spawn/move/fight.
