19.04.24 / 09:28 On the contrary, I appreciate the majority of players for continuing to play BF2
So lately there have been these long connection interrupted (CI) pauses on the server. I'm curious about what causes them.
I dont know how the server is currently run: At some provider running in a virtualized environment, at provider running on dedicated hardware, or on hardware sitting at home/work.
Anyhoot, unlike the usual CI caused by network issues they:
- Seem longer (~10s ?).
- Nothing appears to happen on the server, ex. planes have not moved or crashed. Essentially paused.
- Ping is stable at normal levels
When a normal CI hits somewhere between me and the server. I usually see my ping jump up XX milliseconds. Depending on where the CI is, I also see other players' ping jump. And depending on how long the CI is (over 5 secs or so), I get disconnected.
To me it seems as if something is funky with the server process. Is some other process blocking it? Also the lack of effect on the pings puzzles me.
