What a complete joke that he is perm banned for speedboating. I just can't believe it.
I don't get those people that are being so serious about speedboating being something terrible, and highly unfair thing to do. It's only because you noobs have no clue how to do it... because it requires SKILLS! It doesn't even affect the game negatively, since as I mentioned before, the USMC many times have a hard time getting to the coast.
Maybe you should put your time and effort into things that really are bad for the game (cheaters, tkers, smacktards in general, etc. etc., which I know you take very seriously and that is good, continue with that), instead of worrying about a silly speedboat that is of no threat to anyone.
This is ridiculous!

So giltching in to the buildings should be allowed too because it requires skills? Why it's so hard to understand that you are not allowed to do speedboating.
About "no rules", there is a message on the server about sportsman agreement and that you should read it. |

Of course glitching in to building should not be allowed as that is a HUGE advantage you gain... it's cheating. I don't understand how you can compare those 2 things. |

Erhh, where have you heard that?
EVERYONE got the opportunity to try and speedboat. You don't run any script or any special software.
What you are saying is clearly because you have no idea how to do it , so it's just the easiest to jump to conclusions that they must be using all sorts of other hacks as well. |

A little late to the party here, but here are my two cents anyways.

Everyone also has the opportunity to wall glitch. You don't neither any script or special software to do that either.
That being said I find it quite silly to ban speedboating (not that I care, those things are deathtraps either way), but arguably worse things like C4 roofing are allowed.
But I guess at the end of the day, if you got banned for speed boating, why would you do it again? The rule makes no sense but it's there, so I'd have tried getting it changed before trying to do that. |

So now that some time has passed and Gamespy shut down, causing changes in the mass of population playing bf2 and all, is this a good time to reconsider allowing speedboats?
I'm saying this because I was playing recently on Operation Clean Sweep and there was absolutely no way any SL's can reach land due to massive uncap rape by enemy jets and helicopters. I was VERY tempted to do a speedboat and at least try to cap a flag and give my team a decent round if not a slight chance to try to win. |

Today we had an internal discussion how speedboating could influence the gameplay (positively as well as negatively). We came to the conclusion that speedboating will stay forbidden:
1) We still believe that boats were not meant to be used like that (it wasn't intentionally implemented in BF2) and we still think that it is odd to have a boat driving at the speed of a chopper.
2) We understand that it might help on some maps to enable an inferior team to cap a flag (e.g. on Wake/Clean Sweep) and thus to equal the chances for the teams in this moment. On the other hand it also would enable an already superior team to dominate above mentioned maps even faster.
3) We try to balance the teams, so that flags can be captured in the normal way. We know that this isn't always possible but sometimes that's just the way it is. Since we're cycling every map for two rounds every team is attacker and defender once, so both teams have equal chances on winning one of the rounds. They might get destroyed as attackers but perform better as defenders.
10% luck, 20% skill, 15% concentrated power of will, 5% pleasure, 50% pain and a 100% reason to remember the name ;D

In case anyone wants to report players who exploit that glitch: we have a report section for that!
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Then put the link to the demo (or exact date, time and timezone) as a comment in his report profile.
Also: no naming & shaming!
If you want to report somebody, use the report player section.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. |
