Probably with extensive modding its possible. I'm not an expert but some aplications can be changed by changing their graphic files. "Tricked" into displaying something else.
It would require changing a lot probably - not only adding new textures but building entirely new unit models and upgrading old ones. |

1. BF2 still looks amazing compared to it's age
2. Trailers always looking amazing but that doesnt mean anything about real gameplay
BF3 and BF4 also had great trailers and the real gameplay is just crap. I personally give a shit about gfx and sound if the real important stuff doenst work as expetect (best example is the commo rose).
Maybe Arma3 will be a successor however its currently just a trailer.

So everybody would need a PC with gazillion of RAM, disk space, damn win 10, a pair of "cheap" 1080 tis. NO WAY! For decades I see how games stagnate from being drawn into better graphics and environments, that's cool no offense, but you know that all this stuff consumes the development time and affects the final game price. As a result a development team doesn't get in time to make a decent gameplay and test a game. I would rather prefer playing something like BF2 but with some of its afwul bugs fixed. You know the physics engine is pretty awful there I even had accidents with my vehicle exploding for hitting a passable obstacle like grass or tree trunk. I hope if EA doesn't publish the source codes somebody decompiles it like it happened to EA's dune 2 so many of new and better source ports appeared not only on PC but also on android and ios. Apparently EA doesn't even care about that at all. |
